Built on steel. Grown on trust.
Founded in Hubli in 2000, Sangam Steels India supplies cut-to-size alloy and stainless steel to engineering manufacturers across India and overseas. The company has grown from a ₹2 lakh start to a ₹60 crore enterprise on one policy: the customer pays for the finished piece, not for the process.
The supplier nobody needs to double-check.
Mr. Sangamesh founded Sangam Steels India in Hubli in 2000 with ₹2 lakh of working capital and a conviction the trade considered naive: that a steel supplier grows faster by being scrupulously fair than by taking a margin wherever one is available.
The complaint he heard most often in the machining workshops of Hubli–Dharwad was that a substantial share of every tonne purchased left the shop as offcuts and scrap — paid for in full, never used. Where the trade heard a grievance, he saw the basis for a business. Billing on actual weight delivered, rather than on nominal bar length, became policy from the first order and remains policy on every invoice today.
Twenty-five years on, that principle has carried the company from a single stockist's counter to twelve CNC sawing lines, 5,000 tonnes of bar stock and more than 400 active manufacturing clients — grown on recommendation rather than advertising, and without a change in how orders are priced.
I never wanted to be the biggest steel trader in Karnataka. I wanted to be the one nobody double-checks the invoice from. That turned out to be the same thing.
Mr. Sangamesh · Founder & CEO, Sangam Steels India
A trusted global partner to engineering industries.
Delivering precision cut-to-size steel that simplifies procurement and enables cost-efficient manufacturing — the preferred steel partner, known for quality, reliability and customer focus.
Dependable, value-added supply.
To supply high-quality, precise, cut-to-size steel to engineering manufacturers across India and global markets; to reduce our customers' handling, cutting and logistics challenges; and to build long-term partnerships on quality, transparency and trust.
From ₹2 lakh to ₹60 crore, one honest cut at a time.
No advertising and no sales pitches in the early years. The workshops of Hubli–Dharwad did the marketing, one recommendation at a time, and every rupee earned went back into stock depth.
Opened in Hubli
₹2 lakh in capital and a promise: fair weight, fair price, on time.
Word of mouth
Earnings reinvested into stock so that no customer would hear the words "not available".
Going direct
Intermediaries removed; material sourced directly from India's leading rolling mills for better traceability and better prices, passed on.
The precision era
Investment in CNC band-saw lines turned a steel trader into a precision cutting partner. ±50 µm became the standard.
Scale
Twelve CNC lines, 50,000 cuts a day, 5,000+ tonnes in stock, 400+ active clients across India.
₹60 crore and expanding
Capacity expansion to 60,000 cuts a day is under way. The ambition is no longer regional — it is international.
Still led the same way.
Twenty-five years on, Mr. Sangamesh remains CEO and remains closely involved where it matters — from the cutting floor to customer conversations. The company has grown three thousand times over; the way it is run has not changed.
Integrity is the product
Steel grades can be matched by any supplier. A supplier you never have to audit cannot be.
The customer's waste is our problem
From actual-weight billing to cutting that minimises machining allowance, we compete on how little of your money we waste.
Grow people, grow the company
Many senior operators started as helpers and built their careers here. A team that stays is a team that cares.
The next chapter is international.
Expanding to 60,000 cuts a day and a deeper stainless and alloy range, and taking the same fair-billing model to manufacturing hubs across India and beyond.
